hf_drake2Escaping tohf_drake4 Prince Edward County

By Kylie MacKenzie

Nestled on the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, the Drake Devonshire is the latest addition for Drake Hotel Properties, Toronto’s hippest hospitality group.

hf_drake3A country cousin for the company’s city properties, the farmhouse luxe inn has 11 über-cool, vintage-style guest rooms in all shapes and sizes, as well as two larger suites. Some are creekside, while others face a courtyard. But the one to book, if it’s available, is the owner’s suite—it’s a scene-stealer that’s as jaw-dropping as they get!

The Drake’s trademark art collection, antiques and custom furnishings add flavour throughout the inn’s comfortably spacious and delicious public areas, as does the bright palette of fabrics and colours.

Start with an innovative cocktail in the bar and move further on into the cottage-style dining room. Cantilevered over Lane Creek and overlooking the lake, it’s informal and fun. Chef Matthew Demille’s seasonal menus feature creative farm and lake-to-table appetizers and mains. Pair dinner with a Prince Edward County Chardonnay from the inn’s extensive local wine cellar. Follow that with a decadent dessert. Need we say more?
