A City Designed for Celebrating

A girls’ weekend away is always a good idea. Do you need a reason to gather your closest friends and take on the town?

hf_gansevort1From the lively three-storey lobby with its stunning lavender chandeliers to the old-school prohibition feel of  The Windsor Bar, the Gansevoort Park Avenue is the epitome of contemporary design and offers downtown convenience with a distinctly uptown feel. However, undisputedly the best part of staying in Manhattan is being within walking distance of the three B’s: Bloomingdale’s, Bendel’s and Barneys. Take advantage of a sunny day—grab a coffee and stroll through Central Park, taking in the boathouses, sailboat pond and Bow Bridge.

Dinner at Asellina is rustic Italian in a romantic, modern setting. Starting with cocktails, we’d highly recommend the Brillante: A refreshing mix of Malibu, Cointreau and raspberries, with a coconut garnish. Appetizers are a mezze of savoury meatballs, truffled white bean purée and ricotta served with warm toasted French bread. The must-try entrée? Pappardelle al forno! The Gansevoort’s guest suites are a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps, with cushy king beds, bathrooms that allow access to a “bath butler” and floor-to-ceiling windows dressed with luscious pink-velvet curtains.

hf_gansevort2Lounging by the rooftop pool offers a breathtaking view of the Empire State Building, and almost has us staying in-house for an afternoon. The day after, core-focused yoga and barre classes at Exhale spa and studio give us a chance to compensate for overindulging!

Ending our stay on Park Avenue, we can’t help but leave impressed with the Gansevoort’s midtown hotspot that keeps the brand’s fun-filled image. We’ll be counting down the days until we can return.
