Spa Diaries: Adventures of Aqua- Park in Druskininkai, Lithuania

Parents are seeing the negative influence of too much screen time and are looking for healthier ways to spend their spare moments with their children. “We’re seeing a growing trend of mothers asking for activities and treatments that are ‘child friendly,’ that they can experience together,” says Edmundas Antanaitis, director of Aqua-Park in Druskininkai, Lithuania.
Druskininkai is the country’s biggest spa town. It’s known for its curative mud, calming, pine-forest nature walks, plenty of bicycle paths, and extremely clean air. The medicinal properties of the town’s mineral water were discovered in the 18th century and the town was declared a health resort through a king’s decree.

The AquaPark offers a steam bath in the children’s area that has been specially designed with water temperatures and accessibility that are just right for little guests. The centre also offers children access to a water pool, with the same mineral properties as the Baltic Sea, and a special treatment menu.

Other local resorts, such as the Grand SPA Lietuva, offer spa programs for kids from four to 17 years of age, with treatments to rectify a poor posture, breathing difficulties and flat feet, plus body and facial skin procedures for teenagers. And a year-round Snow Arena and the Uno Adventure Park provide visitors of all abilities with something unique. Think rope swings, adventure trails and zipline across the Nemunas river in the summer. That’s one way to stay young!
