Motoring with MINI

By Helmut Dostal

On the occasion of the brand’s 60th birthday, I had the opportunity to chat with Charlie Cooper, the grandson of the iconic entrepreneur, race car driver and creator of the first MINI Cooper. And, he’s still having as much fun as grandpa did!

So, here are a few things that my recent test drive reminded me of that make these cars so thrilling to drive, and a few of the features I love about the MINI:

  1. It’s a motor car with a unique, playful design and plenty of British spunk and flair.
  2. There’s endless fun to be had as driver.
  3. MINI’s are nimble and well-engineered. I’m always surprised about how versatile, fast and easy to maneuver the car is.
  4. The price is right even in Canadian dollars.

The John Cooper Works is a Countryman on steroids and an evolution of the Mini brand that John Cooper would be proud of.
