Running wild
Now you can run for your life at a women’s only running and wellness retreat organized on some of the world’s best trail-running destinations. This year’s newest addition, the Vancouver Island Trail.
British Columbia’s old-growth rainforests and Pacific Rim National Park have been long known for their scenic forest paths and expansive sand beaches–including the famous Long Beach south of Tofino. So the appeal of a women’s only wellness retreat that incorporates mindful running, fitness clinics and forest bathing among 1,000-year-old fir trees, has a certain post-pandemic appeal. Starting and ending in Victoria, B.C., there are stays at quiet beach- or harbour-front hotels with convenient trail access and time to relax at the spa.
“Since we take care of the logistics and provide guides and private motorcoach transportation, retreaters can relax and focus on the things that rejuvenate and inspire them, like running and spending time in nature,” says founder, Elinor Fish, founder.
“More than a vacation or a coaching and performance clinic, retreats are about cultivating wellness through mindful experiences and connections.”
Luminate
Promising to bring “impactful subconscious exploration” to the masses, Lumenate promises greater mental wellbeing by altering users’ mind states using smartphone technology. A UK startup, the app uses a phone flashlight and special audio tracks to guide users through their own “subconscious voyage.” Creators says the effect is similar to that of psychedelic drugs.
