Luv this Lounge!

hf-ChinaSide3hf-ChinaSide1The Pier First Class Lounge at Gate 63 in the North West Concourse of Hong Kong Airport was re-opened this summer by Cathay Pacific Airways.

“It’s worth the trip to HKIA just to visit The Pier First Class Lounge,” suggests a fellow journalist who’d already had the good fortune to fly in and check out Cathay’s new digs. Today, it’s my turn on a layover between Cathay’s flight from YYZ to HKG and a Dragonair flight to Chengdu.

Just over 2,000 square meters, with capacity to seat 230 passengers, the new lounge has been created by Studioilse, the London-based studio led by Ilse Crawford. It’s designed with lovely warm, tactile materials and soft lighting that feels generous, yet comfortable.

Nice treats give us that well-cared-for vibe: complimentary massages, sleeping pods, The Pantry (a patisserie-style grab and go bar), a full-service restaurant and a chance to freshen up in brand spanking new shower rooms. Nicely done!
