Sebastien’s suggestions

When it comes to entertaining, I believe in taking full advantage of the seasons, fall themes and finding ways to be outdoors for as long as possible. But, a word to the wise hosting guests outside takes its fair share of extra pre-planning so I’ve developed my own reliable checklist…

Firstly, if you don’t have a custom-built outdoor kitchen, consider obtaining a few large baskets. One can be used to move all of the plateware, glassware, cutlery, etc, from inside to out. Always bring a few extras just in case of spills. A second makes ideal storage for items such as red wine, salt and pepper, extra napkins, paper towels and the like. You might also want another closed basket with a liner for the dirty dishes. After all, fewer trips back and forth means more time with your guests.

The essentials: Bug spray of course, comfy cushions, wind-protected candles for lighting at night, and rolled blankets or pashminas for chilly evenings.

A huge thanks to Laurie and Tim Foote for allowingus to host our luncheon shoot at their beautiful propertyin Creemore. Windswept Farm is my new fave place!
