In big sister- little sister style, White Elephant Nantucket and White Elephant Palm Beach are, joined at the hip, when it comes to their fresh, laid back, summer holiday style.
Just two of a kind, the siblings share museum worthy art collections throughout the rooms and common spaces. While Nantucket property has 66 rooms and suites, Palm Beach White Elephant maintains the feel of a private home with but 13 rooms and 19 suites spread across four stories.
Sophisticated, yet comfortable, classically grand yet relaxing both ‘ooze’ boutique chic.
Curated to shine
Guests are welcomed onto the somewhat discreetly located property, one street north of Palm Beach’s Royal Poinciana Way, by a seven-foot white elephant statue from Santa Fe-based artist Fredrick Prescott, one of 120 modern and colourful pop art pieces on display. (A sister elephant– “Trunket” lives on the grounds of White Elephant Nantucket.) Each piece was hand-picked by the owners and Elkus Manfredi. Featured artists include the legendary Robert Rauschenberg, Jennifer Bartlett, Kenzo Okada and Donald Baechler. Doodle Boy, a 14-year-old British artist was also commissioned to create 30 exclusive pieces for the hotel’s powder rooms. Each piece, hand-drawn with thick black marker creates its magic with clean black lines and a hidden signature elephant.
Quietly indulgent
Breaking the trend of bright pink and green aesthetic that dominates Palm Beach, The Mizner style façade is painted a creamy white with classic black and white striped awnings, terra cotta roof tiles and black trim to bring a fresh sophisticated look to the classic structure.
Interiors feature a neutral colour palate, classic sleek metal accents and interesting pops of colour with hardwood, carrara marble, elegant tiles and woven rugs creating a delicious contemporary feel.
Laid back lovely
Originally the Bradley Park Hotel, constructed in 1924 and frequented by high-rollers and business scions, the White Elephant is two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and one block from the Intracoastal waterway. Signature restaurant Lola 41 continues to be a Nantucket staple as is the Palm Beach original Main Street just a few blocks away. Guests enjoy use of Priority Bicycles, Radio Flyer Wagons and exclusive access to Barton and Gray yachts for excursions. There’s a shuttle to the beach, luxury shops are within walking distance or guests are can also be chauffeured or drive a 7-series BMW into town.
