The art of indulgence

Located in the picturesque Eastern Townships of the province of Quebec, Manoir Hovey is a five-star estate set on the shores of scenic Lake Massawippi. With 30 acres of birch forests and English garden, the sprawling southern-styled property offers distinguished accommodations in both the manor and exterior cottages.

Named Canada’s Best Resort for three years in row, Manoir Hovey continues to be leading destination for a romantic getaway and world-class gastronomy. Now with addition of a lakeside 9000 sq.ft, three story spa and Nordic thermal experience, wellness is on the agenda.

Equipped with six mindfully designed treatment rooms, three relaxation rooms, a dry sauna, hammam, a Saskatchewan pink salt shower experience and a cold plunge pool the spa also hosts an open-air pool deck with a four-season heated pool, jacuzzis, lounging areas, firepits, and a cabana bar. The open-year-round indoor/outdoor Euro-style thermal experience is fully immersive and based on the Scandinavian tradition of using hot and cold contrast therapy to promote circulation, detoxification, a natural state of relaxation and overall health.

Three elegant suites were also added to spa’s top floor to bring the room count to a comfortable 39 overall. Each boasts large picture windows, private lake-view balconies, a king bed, fireplace, soaker tub, steam shower, and Japanese toilet.

Le Spa menu offers traditional massage therapy, skincare and beauty treatments, body wraps, rejuvenating therapies, and more. Hovey’s Honey Bliss signature skincare treatment, utilizes a honey exfoliant sourced from on-site beehives and is enhanced with snow and reishi mushrooms plus other natural ingredients. Manicures and pedicures are also available.

The thoughtful design of the new areas is in keeping with the estate’s original architectural features and 1899 façade—broad verandas, tall white pillars, cedar shingles and local filed stones. By using natural materials and a subtle contemporary design, the entire spa area blends seamlessly blends with the hotel’s timeless charm and picturesque location.

Interiors feature muted tones and raw materials such as wood, stone, wool, grass cloth, and rattan to reflect the surrounding landscapes and help to enhance the guests sensory experience. Highlights include with works of local Quebec artist Yechel Gagnon and whimsical wallpaper in a bright floral motif that grace the walls of the esthetician’s room.

In a commitment to sustainably operating the spa facilities in all four seasons, Manoir Hovey also invested in energy-efficient power and a boiler room system that recovers the heat generated by the hotel and redistributes it in an optimal way to heat both the terraces and the basins. In addition, the spa is complemented by a heated outdoor pool, two private beaches and for those looking for a something a little more energetic, clay tennis courts, a gym, a fleet of Louis Garneau bikes, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards.

Built in 1899, Manoir Hovey balances the warmth and comfort of authentic southern architecture with modern day lakefront luxury. The heritage site has been owned by the Stafford family for several generations and has been a member of the Relais & Châteaux group since 2008.

Relais & Châteaux is a collection of 580 of the finest properties and gourmet restaurants in the world. Each establishment is independently owned and managed by passionate owners, innkeepers, and chefs.
