Once upon an island

Located in the Great Barrier Reef and only suitable for 28 people at a time, Orpheus Island Lodge is in a 1000-acre National Park. It has a secluded collection of 14 rooms, suites and villas that sit on a tiny island in the middle of an unspoiled tropical paradise. Imagine stepping out of your villa to find pristine fringing reef on eleven “take-your breath away” kilometres of immaculate turquoise coastline.

Orpheus has a warm tropical climate with an average temperature temperature of 27°C (80°F) year-round. The water varies between 21°C (69°F) in the winter and 29°C (84°F) in the summer.

Best time to visit

During the cooler, drier months from May to October, when the south easterly winds blow, the weather is pleasantly warm with reduced humidity and plenty of sunshine.

Guests on the island have unrivalled access to the enchanting, underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef with personalized snorkelling and principal dive sites where 1,100 of the 1,500 species of fish can be found. Also a fisherman’s playground, the reef is home to the most sought after reef fish species in the world.

A heavenly getaway

All stays at Orpheus Lodge include three gourmet meals prepared daily by Chef Paul Wilson and his team, use of a stunning infinity pool and water sports equipment, unlimited Australian beer and wine, as well as soft beverages and a daily Orpheus experience. For adventurers, there are a number of tracks on the island for guided walks, beach and snorkelling drop offs and sunset cruises. But for those who want a little pampering, there’s always a visit to the Gwandalan Day Spa or a deck chair poolside where the peace and quiet and the incredible views are second to none.
