Goat snuggling

A recent post from the folks at Bedford Wine Trail’s Seven Doors Winery invites visitors to, “Come snuggle and taste wine. Either grab your honey or come solo. You’re sure to feel the love after cuddling sweet baby goats.” The winemaker includes wine tasting of seven organic/biodynamic wines or love potion sangria, and light refreshments. Comfortable attire is recommended.

The goats and the six wineries on the Bedford Wine Trail are part of the great Blue Ridge Mountain getaway and I’ve got to admit, I’m tempted. But if goats aren’t your thing…how about gifting a life size tyrannosaurus museum-quality skeleton that will set you back $100,000? Consider a dive trip and a $7,500 chainmail shark-proof suit for entire body protection. Or what about a lifetime of soaking in an electric hot tub boat engineered by marine carpenters in Seattle—a mere $200,000.

My favourite gift for high flyers, however, is an aerobatic thrill ride in an Extra 300L two-seater aircraft. Spinning, spiralling and looping through the clouds, snowbird-style is sure to get the adrenaline going. Or for a little more drama, opt for a journey into space with the billionaires. As Homefront columnist, Marc Saltzman tells us, Bezos, Musk and Branson are in a modern-day space race that has them selling tickets to ride (See page 40).

Isn’t the sky the limit when it comes to showing how much you care?

Until next time,
