Glamorous once more…

Alajos Hauszmann, a famous Austro-Hungarian architect, designed the New York Palace Hotel in historic downtown Budapest in the late 1890’s as the opulent headquarters for the New York Life Insurance Company.

Today part of the Anantara luxury hotel portfolio, the New York Palace Hotel is classic in style and modern in comfort. With 185 rooms and suites, the Palace is a charming architectural ode to Europe’s Belle Epoch. The impressive marble façade, ornate carvings, iconic clock tower, elegant chandeliers and original frescos make it an exciting landmark and must-stay destination.

A tradition of wellness
As one would expect in a city built on mineral springs, the hotel also boasts an authentic spa with treatments inspired by a variety of cultural traditions. Designed like an ice cave with a pool inspired by natural elements of air, water and stone, the spa offers locally sourced therapeutic, anti-ageing and cosmetic treatments to encourage holistic balancing of the body.

The hotel concierge recommends these activities for guests staying at his hotel for a few days:

VW Guided City Tour – Discover the most instagrammable spots in this vibrant city on an emblematic 59 years old convertible VW SAMBA with a chauffeur that is a true passionate from his city. Visit the most iconic spots in Budapest and learn its secrets from a different point of view.

Danube Romantic Journey – Do not miss a boat trip on the Danube while visiting Budapest. While cruising along the perfect geographical location, you’ll be able to enjoy the close nature of Buda hills and the hectic city life at the same time while rocking on the waves of the river.

Agárd Etyek Wine – A journey into Agárd’s palinka manor. Going to Agárd to produce your own Palinka, the Hungarian protected origin fruit spirit, is the perfect excuse to spend a day disconnected from your daily routine and discover the Hungarian folklore. Agárd is a manor house surrounded by fruit trees, where spicy sour cherry, apricot, ripened plum, juicy cherry and many healthy fruit scents delight the visitors… Each guest can choose the fruit he/she likes and personalize his/her own drink which will be bottled and labeled with a nice name.

Days gone by
A stay here seems to bring back the charm of yesteryear. With a grand champagne breakfast in bed, a romantic picnic on the Danube and a traditional afternoon tea in one of the most beautiful of cafes in the world—known as a haven for the city’s poets and artists for over a century—this is indeed the one of the best ways to revisit Europe’s golden years.

Hungarian Thermal Mud Remedial

Combining a traditional Hungarian therapy for ultimate relaxation and stress relief, this spa at the New York Palace Hotel’s signature treatment calls upon the celebrated healing powers of the lake of Héviz, the largest thermal bathing lake in the world. The popular sixty-minute ritual includes exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, an intensive back massage to relieve muscle tension and ends with a soothing application of warm thermal mud. Worth a visit on it’s own!
