Canadian A-list jewellery designer, Kat Florence is on a mission to transform her hometown of Elora, Ontario, into the chicest of destination with her recently opened boutique retreat. Meticulously restored, her 1848 Commercial Hotel blends heritage limestone with bespoke, jewel-inspired interiors and curated wellness experiences.
Prior to its recultivation, the building served as the Elora Commercial Hotel, and then the George Cinema. Upon hearing about developers threatening to turn the building into a Holiday Inn, Kat decided to salvage the property herself, to ensure Elora could continue to embrace it as a community hub for its citizens.
Today, the once collapsing building has been transforming it into what is now considered one of the most lavish hotels in the township. The hotel’s four luxurious suites, all named after gems, Paraiba, Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby, were each carefully designed to glorify the building’s history. The appropriately named Diamond House, comprised of three private bedrooms is the jewel of the accommodations perfectly integrating a modernist approach through technological enhancement while simultaneous preserving the hotel’s charm. All suite options include a complete service kitchen including an induction cooktop and a full-size refrigerator, along with a balcony overlooking the town, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Stays at Kat’s automatically include a personal concierge and Rolls Royce/Bentley chauffeur services for local sight-seeing. But perhaps best of all, your room comes with her signature elements of care, night and day luxury dining, 60 minute Le Mer-infused massages each day and Veuve Cliquot upon arrival.
