“A place for healing experienced through beauty and wonder. It’s a place for everyone and where everyone can create meaningful and magical experiences that make people remember what is possible.”
Founded by Welsh soprano and climate campaigner Charlotte Church, The Dreaming is a new-age rural wellness retreat centre nestled in the pastural heart of the nurturing Welsh countryside.
Created as a tranquil antidote to the mind-numbingly busy day-to-day world, Charlotte Church’s one-of-a-kind destination embraces a deeper connection with both the natural and spiritual world. Small groups of her guests are invited to leave the world behind, check in and slow down away from the complexities of modern life.
Perfect for rest, restoration, healing and reflection in a naturally beautiful environment, The Dreaming offers soul nourishing, yet playful, 3-day weekly retreats each week and specialist retreats on a regular basis.
Time to retreat
Every year there is also a curated collection of seasonal events like a bond-building Mother and Daughter retreat, Song of the Soul musical experience led by Ms. Church and a Belonging Family Retreat to bring parents and children together.
Every retreat is purposefully designed to help attending participants gently escape the overstimulation of every day and lead them into a calmer, healthier pace that gives them the opportunity to disconnect. Run by a carefully chosen group of specialists in their respected field experts range from physicians, healers, yoga teachers, craftspeople, artists and writers—each session is truly unique. And, Church herself brings years of research on sound and sound therapy into a variety of activities and experiences that harness the healing power of music and sound.
A gardener’s delight
The Dreaming’s abundant gardens were designed by the Chelsea Flower Show Winner, Juliet Sargent and the grand lodging house, were the former home of British fashion icon, Laura Ashley and her family. (Laura Ashley was best known for her traditional Victorian style prints on natural fabrics used to create household furnishings, linens and women’s clothing) While rumor has it that the mammoth project of restoring Laura Ashley’s former home left her with “a hefty mortgage and investment debts”, The Dreaming is rapidly becoming an increasingly popular go to destination now that it’s up and running.
Roaming the centre’s private 47 acres and gardens in deep cleave of the spectacular Nant Caethan Valley for hikes, walks and wanders gives retreaters time to re-connect with their body’s rhythm, each other, and the land. Church believes in childlike curiosity saying, “the beauty we are all capable of creating is accessible. It is our birthright. It is within us as part of our ancestral memory and that the Dreaming’s mission is to remind us of it.”
About Charlotte
A powerful soprano, Charlotte sang as a young child star for everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Pope John Paul II. She left the industry as a teen. Today the songstress is mother of three, still sings but is more likely to be found leading sessions at her own gentle wellness retreat and taping her BBC podcast which is called, Kicking Back—a show that’s about real-life stuff that she has referred to as “the antithesis of Keeping up with the Kardashians”.
