Welcome home…

to a place that’s delightfully different

A little piece of Japan in California wine country, Okaeri Calistoga was founded by Peter Chiang and Azumi Kubo, the owners of Kanpai Wines.

After purchasing the historic, 1875 Pink Mansion Inn that’s a prime 5 minutes from downtown on the Highway 128 hillside, the Inn underwent a seven-year restoration in collaboration with interior designer Meredith Rebolledo.

Today’s very private, serene inn is now home to just five bespoke terraced or balconied rooms whose unique name’s take direction from each of Kanpai’s seven wine labels—Hi No Tori, Tsuchi No Koe, and Aki No Mori for example.

Creatively charming

No two rooms are alike with individual artwork, colourful-framed kimonos and exquisitely deep Japanese soaker tubs. The Okaeri Lounge and dining area also features a centrepiece indoor Koi feeding pond, east-meets west three-course breakfasts and wine pairings from the owner’s label during social hours.

Similar to the zen-ish inside theming, the eco-friendly landscaped gardens are designed to reflect a calmness—tranquil, luxurious, and, “rooted in place” environment with pagodas, bubbling fountains, a lily pond, and a cute wooden foot bridge.

A quiet escape

Restful and restorative. Adults-only-time is what’s on the menu with attentive staff, sparkling Koi fish and tranquil gardens. The result is an Inn that we had the good fortune to stay at while visiting Napa. It’s a museum-like bed and breakfast merging inspired Japanese hospitality with Valley charm.
